Can be useful for
A product can support daily care but can’t treat a dental problem on its own. See a dentist if symptoms persist.
Choosing whitening
- Expect whitening toothpaste to tackle surface stains, not change your natural tooth colour.
- For professional whitening, check the practitioner is on the GDC register.
- Whitening isn't done for under-18s and isn't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, according to the NHS.
- If you have sensitive teeth, ask your dentist before trying whitening products.
- Cutting down on tea, coffee, red wine and smoking helps stains return more slowly.
