Night guards and mouthguards

OPRO Gold self-fit sports mouthguard

By OPRO

A UK-made self-fit sports guard moulded at home. The Oral Health Foundation recommends a custom-made mouthguard from your dentist for the best fit and protection and does not recommend shop-bought guards – consider this only as a stop-gap and ask your dentist.

Can be useful for

A product can support daily care but can’t treat a dental problem on its own. See a dentist if symptoms persist.

Choosing night guards and mouthguards

  • Ask your dentist about a custom-made mouthguard – especially for regular contact sport.
  • If you use a self-fit guard as a stop-gap, follow the fitting instructions carefully and check it stays in place.
  • Children may need a new guard more often as their jaws grow.
  • Clean the guard after each use, dry it and store it in a hard plastic case, away from heat.
  • For grinding, see a dentist rather than relying on an over-the-counter guard.
